Family Curriculum Monday is an opportunity for families to come and go online at their leisure to Farmington Preschool Academy between the times of 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. During this time different activities will be completed by preschool staff. Each session will be 15 minutes long.
This Monday we will work with reading comprehension, rhyming, and phonemic awareness. Families are encouraged to do the activities with their students to see what they are learning. Below is the schedule of activities with a list of supplies needed and a description. It can also be found in the attachment for easier printing. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions.

T-Rex Trick-or-Treats by Lois G. Grambling. As Mrs. Kelly H. reads aloud, Ms. Stacey Edgar portrays the part of "Rex". Rex can't decide what he wants to be for Halloween. Everything he thinks of just isn't uniquely frightening enough. Students will make a prediction as to what Rex is going to be for Halloween.

Pumpkin Name Puzzle

Orange construction paper, scissors and a marker.
|
Help child draw a pumpkin on orange construction paper and have them cut out the pumpkin. After have child write their name on the pumpkin, make sure letters in their name is 2 inches apart. After have them draw lines between the letters and have them cut on the line. Mix up the letters or strips they cut out and have them put the pumpkin back together. Also have them put their name back in order.

We will be reading 10 Little monsters. After we finish reading the book, we will create a skeleton out of Q-tips by drawing a face and cutting it out. We will then glue the Q-tips on the paper as bones. After we finish, we will count how many bones it took to make each child's skeletons.

Students will learn about syllables by clapping out words, then they will take turns telling us how many syllables are in the words placed in bottom of a muffin tin. Then we will place buttons in the muffin tin to represent the syllables in the word.
